A unique prototype designed by Pininfarina
The Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Sport is a concept car, of which only one example was made, presented at the Turin Motor Show in 1965.
Based on the chassis and mechanical components of the Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ racing car, it represents Pininfarina's interpretation of a high-performance sports coupé.
Compared to the Giulia TZ, the prototype features a completely new body, distinguished by a modern wedge line, pop-up headlights, and large glass surfaces. The aerodynamic design prioritises elegance and innovation, moving away from the more distinctly racing-oriented shapes of the time.
From a technical point of view, it retains the TZ's 1.6-litre twin-cam four-cylinder engine, capable of developing around 112 hp and paired with a five-speed gearbox. The car also features disc brakes on all four wheels and a particularly advanced suspension system for the period.
The Giulia 1600 Sport never went into production. Its single example remains a valuable testament to the stylistic and aerodynamic research carried out by Pininfarina in the 1960s.
