A tribute to timeless elegance

The Cadillac “Jacqueline” is an exclusive two-seater concept car presented at the 1961 Paris Motor Show. Its name pays homage to Jacqueline Kennedy, then First Lady of the United States, and testifies to Pininfarina's desire to continue its prestigious collaboration with Cadillac.

Of the four style studies developed by Pininfarina based on Cadillac between 1958 and 1961, the “Jacqueline” is certainly the most famous. Initially conceived as a stylistic model, the bodywork was supported by a tubular frame mounted on two trailer axles and lacked an engine, transmission, steering, and suspension.

Its elegant and innovative lines immediately captured public attention, anticipating numerous stylistic elements subsequently adopted on General Motors production models.

The first and only registered owner, Alain Dominique Perrin, president of Cartier and collector of rare automobiles, had the “Jacqueline” transferred to the United States, where it was rebuilt on a 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz chassis.

The car was then equipped with a 390 cubic inch, or 6.4-liter, V8 engine capable of producing 325 hp. Other features included a four-speed automatic transmission, independent coil spring front suspension, a rigid rear axle with leaf springs, and power-assisted drum brakes on all four wheels.

Most of the interior, including the characteristic monocoque seats, remained faithful to the original Pininfarina design, while many elements were made fully functional.
