The Forever Piuma Leonardo is a tribute to the genius of Leonardo da Vinci: a solid wood (pear or maple) stylus with a patented Ethergraf® tip, which writes without ink or refills. It rests in balance on the refined mirrored stainless steel base with Leonardo's mirrored signature. Commemorative edition for the 500th anniversary of the master's death. Available in: Pear, Maple.
Writing instruments with an Ethergraf® tip are not ink pens. They are born from an ancient technique that allows metal to leave a light mark on paper through the natural oxidation of the surface. The stroke is fine, discreet, similar to a pencil, and designed to last over time. They are design objects that live on the desk as silent companions, not as substitutes for traditional pens.
The Forever Piuma Leonardo was created as a tribute to the quintessential Renaissance genius. Its shape evokes Leonardo's historic quill pen, an instrument for his most famous studies and drawings. The solid pear or maple wood body offers a warm and natural feel to the touch. The Ethergraf® tip writes without ink, utilizing the paper's oxidation process for a fine and lasting mark. The mirrored stainless steel base with Leonardo's mirrored signature completes an object of rare elegance, perfect for display on a desk.
What is the difference compared to the Forever Piuma Leonardo Ink?
The Piuma Leonardo Ethergraf (€49) uses the Ethergraf® tip: inkless writing through paper oxidation, more poetic and contemplative, the mark never runs out. The Piuma Leonardo Ink (€49) uses a ballpoint tip with a Schmidt cartridge: ink writing, fluid and immediate, suitable for daily use. Same Leonardo-inspired design, same solid wood, same steel base. The choice depends on the preferred writing style.
What is the difference between the Pear and Maple variants?
Pear wood has a fine grain and a warm, pinkish/light brown color, with a uniform and elegant texture. Maple wood has a more pronounced grain and a lighter, brighter color, with more visible streaks. Both are fine woods crafted by hand. The choice is purely aesthetic and personal.
How does the Ethergraf® tip work?
The Ethergraf® tip is a patented metal alloy that leaves a mark on paper through a natural micro-oxidation process, without ink or refills. The stroke is fine and discreet, similar to a pencil, and never runs out. Untreated common paper is recommended for best results.
How does the base work? Does the stylus really remain in balance?
Yes. The mirrored stainless steel base is designed to receive the stylus at its natural center of gravity, allowing it to rest in horizontal balance. It's a surprising visual effect that makes the Piuma an exhibition object as well as a writing tool.
Is it suitable as a gift for a Leonardo da Vinci or Italian design enthusiast?
Absolutely yes. At €49, the Forever Piuma Leonardo Ethergraf is one of the most culturally rich gifts in the catalog: solid wood, Ethergraf® tip, base with Leonardo's signature, and artisanal Italian production. Perfect for collectors, history, art, and Made in Italy enthusiasts.
